7 Things To Expect From Man Of Steel 2 If Matthew Vaughn Directs

6. A Spin On The 'Buddy' Dynamic

Most of Matthew Vaughn's movies revolve around a relationship that brings together two characters with distinct backgrounds, cultural differences and/or looks.

Stardust is the story of a young man, Tristan, and a fallen star, Yvaine. Kick-Ass was as much Hit-Girl's movie as it was the title character's, eventually bringing the two together to face a greater threat.

X-Men: First Class detailed the slowly-fracturing friendship between the troubled Erik Lehnsherr and the pampered, upper-class Charles Xavier, and Kingsman: The Secret Service was something of a father-son movie, with Colin Firth's Harry Hart taking foul-mouthed delinquent Gary "Eggsy" Unwin under his wing.

Even films Vaughn has produced, like Eddie The Eagle, feature a central 'oddball' relationship like this - and what's interesting when you apply this dynamic to Man Of Steel 2, is that star Henry Cavill has recently been teasing his relationship with a couple of other major superheroes on social media.

The actor's sent out numerous posts that reference Green Lantern in some way, as well as a post over Christmas featuring Dwayne "Black Adam" Johnson, accompanied by the hashtag "#DCWorldsWillCollide".

It's by no means a confirmation that Man Of Steel 2 will be a 'buddy' movie of sorts, but when you factor in Vaughn's proclivity toward this kind of storytelling and the fact that more recognisable characters would generate more interest for the studio, it's a more likely scenario than you'd think.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
