7 Times Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Misses The Mark
4. Has Wanda Learned Nothing?
With Disney+ MCU content coming our way since Wandavision at the start of 2021, the Multiverse of Madness is the first time an MCU film has heavily connected to one of these projects.
But does the film pay off the seven weeks of dedication we put into unravel the mind bending story taking place in Westview? Not really.
Wandavision has Wanda traumatised by the grief of losing Vision. As a result she holds an entire town prisoner, under her spell, whilst she lives out this perfect life. But long story short, Wanda sees the error of her ways and puts everything largely back to normal, at the expense of Vision and her children.
But by Multiverse of Madness, any development seems to have gone out the window. Wanda is back to being extremely selfish, using the cliche of a mother will do anything for her children, which is back to massacring countless people.
Yes you can justify this was the Darkhold and the Scarlet Witch side, but what did Wanda expect by reading a book which is clearly a massive red flag to those who use it?!
It rubs more salt into the wound when director Sam Rami even admits to only seeing the 'main bits' of Wandavision to inform this film.
