The Movie:

The Conjuring 2 focuses on a family living in a house in Enfield, who claim that they are subject to paranormal goings on within their property. Janet, one of the children, becomes possessed by the spirit of a former resident Bill Wilkins who claims that the family should leave his house.

Ed and Lorraine visit the family and after investigation, claim that Janet has orchestrated a hoax. After leaving the residence, Lorraine sees visions of the Nun and realises that Bill wants to be freed from the evil spirit that killed him.

The True Story:

The Enfield Poltergeist is one of the most well known paranormal events of the '70s. In the original account, a family lived inside the supposedly haunted house where they were subject to a range of supernatural goings on, including furniture moving on their own accord and the possession of Janet.

There are photos and recordings and a BBC documentary of the events in which the young girl floated above her bed at night and spoke in the old man’s demonic voice.

Today it has yet to be confirmed or denied if the family orchestrated everything as a hoax to gain fame.
