7 Upcoming Movies That Will Change How You See Iconic Characters

5. Avengers: Infinity War: Captain America's New Identity

Although Captain America has gotten gradually darker throughout the course of the MCU movies, he's always personified the red, white, and blue of US patriotism.

Like Superman, he's a clean-cut good guy who operates on the right side of the law and does things by the book unless there's no other option.

Everything he does has the interests of the American people in mind, but his actions have been straying further from the letter of the law with every film, and by the end of Civil War, he's gone full maverick and thrown down his trademark shield.

Avengers: Infinity War is expected to see him travel further along this uncertain path and assume the Nomad identity he takes on in the comics after losing faith in the powers that be.

The change in Cap from a visual standpoint will be pronounced, with the white star on his chest having been torn off and the man himself rocking a rugged, bearded look.

Although Steve Rogers' shift has been several films in the making, his appearance and methods in Infinity War will be a far cry from the vanilla goodie introduced in The First Avenger, to the extent that audiences may no longer see him as Captain America, but a hero reborn as something new.

Nomad will operate as a vigilante in the shadows who bends the rules at every turn, the kind of ideology that will be necessary when the war with Thanos breaks out.

When people think of Cap, the image that springs to mind is the patriotic good guy from The First Avenger, but if Infinity War does his Nomad persona justice, this identity could become just as strongly associated with Rogers among cinemagoers.
