7 Upcoming Movies That Will Change How You See Iconic Characters

6. Halloween 2018: Michael Myers Is A Force Of Nature

Justice League Batman
Blumhouse Productions

Michael Myers has become something of a joke since the original Halloween debuted in the 1970s, somewhere between the Thorn Curse and getting beaten up by Buster Rymes, but nobody will be laughing when he returns to cinemas next October.

The public perceives the masked maniac as an unstoppable killing machine who just keeps on coming under a barrage of bullets. It's almost comical.

But David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, with the help of series mastermind John Carpenter, are aiming to make him a force of nature again, a spectral presence that lurks in the background and strikes from the shadows without warning.

This is what made Michael so terrifying in Carpenter's original low-budget smash. It was the scenes where he stalked his prey barely detected that gave fans the shivers, not the more graphic slasher moments which came later.

Green and McBride's plan is to make the serial killer frightening again, so don't expect him to be bulletproof, fireproof or possess the strength of 1,000 men. The slasher icon is returning to his insidious roots, a point of origin that numerous sequels and reboots have rendered a distant memory.

The 2018 Halloween will remind the world that this is what Myers is all about, and hopefully help him take the long-running series out on a high note.
