7 Ups And 9 Downs From San Andreas

2. Cheesy "America, F*** Yeah!" Imagery

It'll surprise roughly no-one that an American movie set on American soil and bankrolled with $100 million of an American company's money features a ton of American flags and patriotic iconography. Now, to be fair, most of the movie keeps this on a non-intrusive, even keel, though at the movie's end, it goes totally off the deep end into "America, f*** yeah!" territory. As Emma asks Ray (with whom she has presumably reconciled) what they should do now, he tells her "Rebuild it", as an American flag is seen being draped over the remains of the Golden Gate Bridge. It's so absurdly on-the-nose, and anyone who isn't the most hyper-Conservative, mega-patriotic American is going to find it a combination of hilariously cheesy and utterly facepalm-inducing.
