7 Ways Movie Theaters Can Be More Exciting

3. Discount On Pre-Ordered Tickets

Tickets

It€™s a little annoying when I log onto Fandango, pre-order tickets for a movie I can€™t wait to see, only to find a $2.50 €œconvenience€ charge tacked onto my order. Shouldn€™t they be charging me LESS? Movie theaters would do well to take a page from airlines: the sooner a person pre-orders, the better price they get.

When someone pre-orders, they pay for the ticket in full so the theater gets their money regardless of whether they show up or not. It is guaranteed revenue that they can see ahead of time. On top of that, it becomes more of a commitment on the buyer€™s part. I can€™t tell you how many times I planned on seeing a movie on an ordinary weeknight only to get caught up in something else. But if I had already paid for a ticket, you can be damn sure I would be there no matter what. Again, it treats the theater experience like more of an event instead of an impulsive decision.
