7 Ways The Next Fantastic Beasts Film Can Turn Around The Franchise

1. Not Completely Doubling Back On Aurelius Dumbledore

One of the most infamous plot twists of the film was when it was revealed that Credence is actually Albus Dumbledore's long lost brother, Aurelius. Rowling's Pottermore website once again has shot her in the foot, because the history she has previously created contradicts this major plot point.

For those unfamiliar with the Dumbledore family history, here is a very watered-down version. Albus' father, Percival, was sent to Azkaban in 1891 after killing a group of muggles who attacked his youngest daughter, Ariana. Albus' mother, Kendra, passed away a few years after that, in 1899. Based on his approximate age of around 20 in Crimes of Grindelwald, which is set in 1927, Credence could not have possibly been born yet.

Some have speculated that he is not actually a Dumbledore, that Grindelwald is lying to him. However, completely backing down on a plot twist as large as this one feels a bit cheap and disingenuine. They can't take it back, but they can make it more interesting.

The only people we know less about than Albus Dumbledore are his siblings and extended family. It is more than plausible that he a cousin or nephew.
