8 Acceptable Reasons To Walk Out Of A Movie

8. If It€™s a Sequel and Someone says €œHere We Go Again€€

If you€™re sat watching the next big summer popcorn shoveller and it just so happens to be a sequel, then you€™re already treading on thin ice. Sequels are notoriously shaky ground, and it€™s typically quite rare that you€™ll end up considering it on par with the original. But still, you€™ll likely sit your ass through the thing regardless, hoping beyond hope that something new and interesting will happen at some point. But there€™s one huge early warning sign that it won€™t. If, and it€™s normally around the end of the first act, just as the characters are about to begin their next adventure one of them utters the dreaded €œHere we go again€ line, then stand up, collect your things, and make for the nearest exit. Basically, when you hear this line it means that the sequel you€™re watching is completely unnecessary, and worse, that the screenwriters are too lazy to even bother attempting to dream up a new story. Although they€™ll usually have fiddled with the existing formula just enough to dupe idiots, trust me, nothing new or particularly exciting is going to come after a €œhere we go again€. Should you hear it, go directly to the box office and demand your money back. You have rights you know. So common this cinematic sin is in fact, that the Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller) mock trailer for Scorcher VI in Tropic Thunder parodies it almost directly.
