8 Acceptable Reasons To Walk Out Of A Movie
Don’t sit there wasting your time on something Hollywood hasn’t even had the common decency to put a bit of effort into. There’s another way.
The cinema is a special place. Its where we go to get our new movie fix, where we go on dates, a venue to be with our friends and family. And once youre in, once youve put your money down, youre in, youre settled, and youre there until the end. Hollywood knows this; thats why half the battle is getting those bums on seats during opening weekend. I wonder how many movies have been made by now. Too many to count, for sure. And only a very small relative handful of them are considered great; a few more are considered good; most are considered average; then there is the remainder. Those movies that sucked so hard you almost lost your eyeballs. But still, you sat through them, and left the theatre afterwards wondering if it was even ethical to charge money for what you just witnessed. But why do we stay? Is it the price of the ticket? Is it the embarrassment of being seen leaving before the end? Or are have we been conditioned over the years to sit, stay and afterwards, beg for more? If you found a human turd in your soup at a restaurant, would you just ignore it, eat around it? No, youd send it back; there'd even be legal ramifications. So why do we so often do just that at the cinema? In my book, for a handful of reasons, its perfectly acceptable to get up and just bail. F*ck it. Dont sit there wasting your time on something Hollywood hasnt even had the common decency to put a bit of effort into. Theres another way. One day, maybe someone will create some sort of gauge, a measure that filmmakers and screenwriters must fill in order to get a green light. Until that day, here are 8 perfectly acceptable reasons to get up and walk out.
