8 Actors Who Parodied Themselves In 2013 Movies

8. Jeff Bridges Channels Rooster Cogburn - R.I.P.D.

Jeff Bridges Ripd After delivering what can only be described as a tour-de-force performance in the Coen's epic remake of True Grit (the role garnered him a well-deserved Oscar-nomination), Jeff Bridges - in what might be considered something of a bizarre movie - decided that the next role he'd play would be... well, the same role? Yes, having played US Marshal Rooster Cogburn with a worn-out bravado and nearly indecipherable accent, Bridges found himself cast as Roycephus "Roy" Pulsipher, another US Marshal from the Wild West of similar make-up. Déjà vu, anyone? R.I.P.D., of course, didn't do great at the box office, and the reviews weren't all that good, either, with critics likening the movie to that of Men in Black (and not in a good way). Why did Bridges opt for a role so similar to the one he played in True Grit, then? Presumably he had such a good time with the character, he felt like revisiting the same territory. But for what it's worth, the impact of having Bridges as a ballsy cowboy is lost the second time round, and it almost feels like he's phoning it in. It was a nice idea in theory, but one that didn't entirely work.
