1. Johnny Depp
Tarantino has said in the past that he has wanted to work with Johnny Depp for a long time, but the stars just haven't aligned yet with a role that suits the actor. Given that Depp has been coasting on franchise fare and dining out on Tim Burton for far too long, this is just the sort of role the actor needs to reinvigorate his artistic integrity. The actor hasn't been nominated for a serious award in 6 years (I'm not counting Golden Globe nominations for The Tourist and Alice in Wonderland) since Sweeney Todd, but as the protagonist in a Tarantino film, I could certainly see it happen. But forgetting awards for a minute, Depp is a great actor on his own terms (when he wants to be), and obviously has the star quality QT would be looking for, so why not? I could easily see Depp decked out in a hat, waistcoat and spurs, ready to do battle with his seven comrades in tow. We don't often think of actors as huge as Depp needing a career revival, but he does, and this could so be it. Who else would you like to see fill up the Hateful Eight? Let me know in the comments!
