7. Shia LaBeouf Tried To Choke His Charlie Countryman Director Out While On Acid
Shia-LaBeouf-wigging-out-dangerously-on-film-set stories are ten a penny (did you know he even tried fighting Tom Hardy on the set of Lawless? Yeah, LaBeouf won), but perhaps the best example of his method-influenced madness taking him beyond the edge of darkness occurred during the shoot for Charlie Countryman. LaBeouf, who plays a backpacker travelling around Europe in the film, dropped acid for real at one point to better get into the mind of his character - then things took a turn. It was shortly after this LSD-tinged nightmare that LaBeouf lashed out at Countryman director Fredrik Bond, with the star eventually choking Bond, forcing LaBeouf's trainer to intervene and pull him off the filmmaker. LaBeouf has referred to the incident a a "lack of control caused by irrational commitment." In the words of LaBeouf's co-star Rupert Grint: "If anything will make you not do drugs, it's watching that."
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
