6. Tupac Beat Up Allen Hughes After He Fired Him From Menace 2 Society
For their debut, twin directing brothers Allen and Albert Hughes would've been glad to have hip-hop superstar Tupac Shakur starring in their movie. Regrettably, Shakur - along with rappers MC Ren and Spice 1 - was causing trouble on-set ("I ain't goin' play no gangbanger who's a Muslim. There ain't no such thing", Shakur said in an interview), so he was removed and replaced by Vonte Sweet. So far, so showbusiness. Shakur, however, didn't let his dismissal slide - six months later, when Shakur met Allen Hughes again, the musician/actor, along with his entourage, beat the director up on the set of a music video shoot. Tupac was found guilty of assault and battery after the incident, while the Hughes brothers had a worse fate in store, later going on to direct From Hell and The Book Of Eli to the praise of exactly no one.
Lover of film, writer of words, pretentious beyond belief. Thinks Scorsese and Kubrick are the kings of cinema, but PT Anderson and David Fincher are the dashing young princes. Follow Brogan on twitter if you can take shameless self-promotion: @BroganMorris1
