8 Actors Who Hated Working On Batman Movies
4. Jared Leto - Suicide Squad
Admittedly, Suicide Squad isn't an out-and-out Batman feature by any means. But, the Dark Knight pops up on a number of occasions to whoop some bad guy ass, so this DCEU movie falls into Bat-territory in our book.
So, with that in mind, it felt as though this assembling of some of Gotham's most villainous names was teasing a bright (or should that be dark?) future for Ben Affleck's Batman and Jared Leto's Joker. The pair even shared one brief scene together in the ill-fated flick which saw the Bat capturing the Clown Prince of Crime's girlfriend Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie).
But, Leto was barely given much else to do in the disappointing entry in the wake of this moment and fans were left wondering why arguably the movie's biggest draw had been largely sidelined.
Leto was equally miffed by this decision and ranted about the lack of Joker in the finished product in multiple interviews.
On one occasion, the actor revealed:
"To the people who want more Joker, I say, me too. I did a lot of work on the film and a lot was cut. So, you have to ask the movie studio, 'why?' I don't know."
With Joaquin Phoenix's iteration of the character earning the actor an Academy Award in recent times, it looks like Leto probably won't get the chance to bring more of his cut-to-pieces Joker to the big screen any time soon.
