8 Actors Who Hated Working On Batman Movies

2. Tommy Lee Jones - Batman Forever

Back in the mid 90's, Tommy Lee Jones and Jim Carrey were arguably to of the most in-demand movie stars on the planet.

So, when the pair were both roped in to play Batman Forever's villains, Two Face and The Riddler, in 1995, fans were rightly expecting something special.

Despite the majority of the flick often failing to deliver, Carrey and Jones' irrepressible charisma still shone through. With that in mind, you'd probably expect to hear that the pair got on like a house on fire while shooting, seeing as though they spent a large amount of the film on screen together.

Well, not exactly.

As it turned out, Jones thoroughly detested working alongside Carrey, with the latter confirming as much during an interview years later. When Carrey turned up to a restaurant where Jones just so happened to be enjoying some dinner, the actor revealed:

"The maitre said, 'Oh, I hear you're working with Tommy Lee Jones. He's over in the corner having dinner.' I went over and I said, 'Hey Tommy, how are you doing?' and the blood just drained from his face," Carrey said. "And he got up shaking — he must have been in mid kill me fantasy or something like that. And he went to hug me and he said, 'I hate you. I really don't like you.' And I said, 'What's the problem?' and pulled up a chair, which probably wasn't smart. And he said, 'I cannot sanction your buffoonery.'"

Carrey's comedic stylings aren't for everyone, but the actor seemed to think his co-star was frustrated for another reason. He pondered:

"He might have been uncomfortable doing that work, too. That's not really his style of stuff."

The film's director Joel Schumacher also added that Jones "was not kind" to Carrey throughout the shoot. So, it comes as little surprise to hear that the pair haven't worked together since.
