8 Actors Who Spoiled The Endings To Their Own Work

2. Rachel McAdams Reveals EVERYTHING About The Time Traveler's Wife

That Jon Stewart is just so charming, isn't he? It's understandable how one could get wrapped up in his doe eyes and maybe forget that revealing the entire plot of the movie you're on his show to promote could be considered a bad thing. Within the first couple of minutes, McAdams explains that her time-traveling husband travels back in time to his childhood and then travels forward in time to his own death, so that he is burdened with the knowledge of how and when he's going to die. It's literally the driving force of the final act. And McAdams blurted it out like it was no big thang. In fact, she breezes right past it until Stewart stops her and says "Whoa! He knows how he's going to die before he dies?" To which McAdams, with the cutest dear-in-headlights look on her face, deadpans "Now we've ruined everything." Stewart tries to dig her out by suggesting that there's a lot more to the plot but, since there really isn't, McAdams just goes all in and details every other plot point that might be considered a surprise. Sure, The Time Traveler's Wife probably didn't have audiences as invested as, say, The Dark Knight Rises, but it's a science-fiction romance that revolves a gimmick. And telling people how that gimmick resolves is not how you put butts in the seats.
