8 Actors Who Turned Down Crazy Money To Appear In Movie Sequels
8. Ja Rule Turned Down $500,000 To Star In 2 Fast 2 Furious
If you're not familiar with Ja Rule, he's a rapper and occasional actor whose best known role to date was in the original Fast And Furious movie, in which he had a minor part. Since then, he hasn't appeared in any other major acting roles, and that's because he essentially sabotaged his own career when he refused to appear in the sequel film. Just for the record: Ja Rule was paid $15,000 to appear in the first flick. Director John Singleton, who helmed 2 Fast 2 Furious, describes how Ja Rule made a critical mistake turning down the studio's very generous offer of $500,000:
"Ja got too big for himself. He turned down a half a million dollars. He got 15 grand to be in the first movie. He was acting like he was too big to be in the sequel. He wouldnt return calls. I went to the studio to go see him. He was kinda playing me to the side and I was like, What? What is this sh*t? This was all initiated by me. I then made a call. I called Ludacris."
And that spelled the end of Ja Rule's movie career. Ludacris, on the other hand, went on to appear in a further three Fast And Furious films, including the recent billion-dollar scooping Furious 7. Oops.
