8 Actors Who Turned Down Crazy Money To Appear In Movie Sequels
7. Katie Holmes Turned Down $2 Million To Star In The Dark Knight
Imagine, for a second, that you're Katie Holmes in 2007 (sorry, you're still married to Tom Cruise at this point in time). Not only do you make a conscious decision not to appear in The Dark Knight, arguably the greatest superhero movie of all-time, but you also deny yourself the hefty sum of $2 million dollars in doing so. That's exactly what happened when Holmes refused to return as Bruce Wayne's love interest, Rachel Dawes, after Batman Begins. So what was the reason that she opted not to come back? She was exhausted or something, right? She wanted to spend more time with the family, perhaps? Nope: she decided to star in the laughably terrible "comedy" Mad Money instead. Yes: Holmes took a look at the scripts for both The Dark Knight and Mad Money and decided that the latter - which was a critical failure and a box office flop of the highest order - was the one for her. Oh, Katie: what a terrible move (and movie) that was.
