Billy Bob Thornton: actor, writer, director, former Angelina Jolie husband, Oscar-winner. When Billy Bob isn't hanging around Hollywood, acting for the big screen or scaring folks in FX anthology series, though, he occasionally likes to play a bit of music with his band, the Boxmasters.

Oh, you didn't know Thornton had a band? Neither did most people, until he launched a verbal attack on CBC Radio host Jian Ghomeshi in 2009, in an interview that went viral and reminded everyone how you don't even remotely mess around with Billy Bob Thornton. It was on this show that Thornton also began to display a dislike for the Canadian people.

Disgruntled by the lack of crowd enthusiasm for his side-project at a 2009 Boxmasters gig in Toronto, Thornton compared "reserved" Canadian fans to "mashed potatoes without gravy". Canada didn't know what that meant, but it sure as hell didn't like it, and responded by booing Thornton at subsequent gigs, eventually forcing the Boxmasters to cancel their remaining tour dates. The lesson: don't f*** with Canada.
