8 Actors Who Were Sued For Quitting Movies

7. Robert Redford - Blue

Old Dogs John Travolta
CBS

It's pretty likely that you haven't heard of this 1968 western drama that saw the titular character decide between his adopted family and his original people. Still, there is some interesting drama behind it that's more exciting than the flick itself, and it all comes down to Robert Redford.

Redford was signed on to star as the movie's eponymous hero but ended up pulling out only a week before cameras were ready to start rolling. The reason for his departure isn't 100% transparent, but what is clear is that it led to Paramount going after him in the courtrooms.

Naturally, suing the star led to a lot of bad blood between himself and the company, which even became the motive for him to turn down the role of Guy Woodhouse in Rosemary's Baby, which would have been quite the treat to see.

The star would eventually work with the studio again, and the role of Blue ended up going to Terrance Stamp, so they still got a great lead. Although it all worked out in the end, it's still a lesson to commit to the things you sign on for.
