Ted 2 has a lot to work against. Not only is it a comedy sequel brought about purely because of the original's financial success, it also has the future of Seth MacFarlane's directing career resting on its shoulders; A Million Ways To Die In The West proved incredibly underwhelming given the calibre of those involved. All this is made that much worse because the film is going to have to deal with that age old sequel problem - replacing characters. Mila Kunis is out of the movie, with Amanda Seyfried instead filling the love interest role, which sure does invalidate the entire journey the characters took the first time around. That may seem a little off the point when talking about MacFarlane's output, but given how Ted was his most developed stand-alone plot it's a potent worry. Playing Samantha L. Jackson (guess the painfully dragged out running joke that'll lead to), whether Seyfried was brought on to replace Kunis after she left the project willingly or part a creative decision by the director is unclear, but it looks set to be one of the sequel's most contentious issues.
