8 Actors Whose Careers Flopped After Leaving The MCU

While 2008's The Incredible Hulk is an official part of the MCU, it's really not that important in the grand scheme of things.

Why? It spent time setting up Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, but he was recast for The Avengers; it teased future events (Samuel Sterns becoming a villain) that never came to pass; and aside from William Hurt as General Ross, not a single one of its main actors has returned in another MCU movie.

And that includes Liv Tyler as Betty Ross, the supposed love of Banner's life, who has, weirdly, never been heard from or mentioned since.

Marvel has clearly tried to bury the character by introducing Natasha Romanoff as Banner's new love interest, but given that Ross was such an important part of his story in The Incredible Hulk, it's odd that he's never even talked about her, or even acknowledged her existence.

Actress Liv Tyler has appeared in just six movies since her 2008 MCU appearance, all of them carrying low budgets and even lower profiles. Work is work, but after lead roles in The Lord Of The Rings, The Incredible Hulk and The Strangers, the fact that she's completely dropped off the radar in recent years is baffling.
