The Film: Tomorrow Never Dies (1997)

The Role: A crew member aboard the HMS Devonshire, which was attacked early in the film as part of Elliot Carver's plans.

Why You Forgot: Between the fact that he gets mere seconds of screentime and that his face is partially hidden in darkness, it should come as no surprise that this was only his second film role. While he went on to appear in films like 2002's Reign of Fire, 2003's Tomb Raider sequel and 2004's The Phantom of the Opera, it wasn't until his role as King Leonidas in 300 - a decade after he turned up in the Bond film - that he well and truly broke out.

In recent years, Butler has been lending his voice to the How to Train Your Dragon series and is even set to return in the sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, London Has Fallen.
