8 Best Donald Glover Roles

2. Atlanta - Earnest Marks

Atlanta technically has a genuine claim to being the best TV series in the world right now, though it hasn't been seen now for nearly three years. Don't worry, though, for a third and fourth season are coming.

This brilliant series might be Donald Glover's masterpiece. In telling the story of Earnest Marks, Glover and his team reflect a skewed vision of modern society and racial prejudice onto the screen.

A father of one and manager of his up-and-coming rapper cousin Paper Boi, Earnest represents the everyman who has deals with his own homelessness and desperation for money in the search of a career that he can be proud of, rather than accepting that he is just another black man in Atlanta, Georgia.

Glover has never before or since flexed his acting muscles like he has in Atlanta. Earnest is a complex and idealistic individual who wants the best for his daughter, his on-off again girlfriend Vanessa, and for himself.

Donald shows both his dramatic and comedic chops as Earn, without ever falling into forced humour or melodrama. The subtlety that he commands, as well as the clear intelligence he displays, makes Earnest one of the best characters on TV right now.

The wait to see Atlanta's third season has already been long, but it is coming and we can't wait to see it when it does arrive.
