8 Best Movies Announced This Week (Feb 10th)

1. The Trench

Well, well, well.

Just when you thought Warner Bros had their fingers back on the pulse for their DC movies and had stopped announcing way too many projects that might not even make it to the big screen (as with the confusing situation about the multiple Harley Quinn/Joker movies), they've gone and thrown a curve-ball.

On the back of Aquaman's huge global success, a sequel was inevitable, but instead of leaving it there, THR announced this week that Warners have hired newcomers Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald to write a horror-tinged script focused on the Trench, those weird fish-headed creatures Aquaman and Mera battle towards thee climax of Aquaman.

It will apparently be more modestly budgeted than Aquaman, but will presumably rely heavily on CGI, so it won't come cheap, exactly.

It's a strange one for Warner Bros to focus on, but at least they're being unexpected. It's just not always right to be unexpected when you've started to have some success with your much-maligned shared universe. All that's out that right now is that the film will be set in the kingdom of the Trench and will not feature the main cast of James Wan's successful solo outing.
