8 Best Number 8 Films In A Franchise

7. Freddy Vs. Jason

Freddy V Jason
New Line Cinema

It's hard to believe that Freddy Krueger is over 30 years old. Wes Craven first introduced us to the striped-shirted maniac back in 1984 with A Nightmare on Elm Street, where Freddy slashed his way through the dreams of teens, and in turn, became one of the most recognizable movie monsters in horror history.

Freddy got a bit too big for his knife-gloves though, with the series trudging on through countless sequels and the character becoming less of a figure of fear, and more of a figure of fun. Then we reach part eight of spending a night at Freddy's, and someone decides to really crank up the crazy. Because it's here we find Krueger in the ultimate horror mash-up, as he battles everyone's favourite hockey-masked serial killer from the Friday The 13th films - Jason Voohres.

As you might expect, Freddy Vs. Jason is an absurd film. There's positively no subtlety here, as it repeatedly clubs you over the head with its bonkers concept. A nonsensical premise that somehow pays off in pure, dumb entertainment though.

The sight of Freddy and Jason duking it out is so silly, your brain ends up switching off halfway through, and you coast along the wave of madness all the way to the insane conclusion. Which inevitably sees Freddy and Jason trade fisticuffs, and Freddy busting out his martial arts skills. No, really.
