8 Best Number 8 Films In A Franchise
6. Space Jam
Everyone loves the Looney Tunes and if you don't, then we can only presume you forgot to have a childhood. For an incredible 87 years, Bugs, Daffy et al have been entertaining the masses with their animated antics. And although most of their feature-length outings never reached the heights of popularity of their shorter cartoons, the eighth entry in the Looney Tunes film series really did believe it could fly. Woooh.
Space Jam took the ever-popular Looney Tunes, and plunked them into a live-action universe so they could play basketball against aliens with Michael Jordan (aka God). Oh, and Bill Murray pops in to play as well for seemingly no other reason than he knows the director.
And he's allowed to do stuff like this because he's BILL MURRAY.
Some might see Space Jam as a soulless cash-in. One that failed to truly unleash the anarchic power of the Looney Tunes crew onto the big screen. There's some weight to that criticism too, but nonetheless Space Jam is still an entertaining, nostalgic way to spend two hours of your life.
It's bloated sure, but it's like the cinematic equivalent of eating a tub of Ben & Jerry's in one sitting. You know it's no good for you, and you'll regret it the moment it ends, but good lord, it sure goes down sweet when you're eating it.
