8 Best Number 8 Films In A Franchise

5. Muppets Most Wanted

The Muppets are not all that dissimilar from the Looney Tunes. They're another assorted crew of talking animals (as well as some scientists and a Swedish chef) with anarchic tendencies, that permanently live inside our childhood memories.

Unlike the LT gang though, our Muppet friends have had a better run in feature-length films. They've successfully managed to transpose their wackiness from TV to the big screen, with excellent films like The Muppets Take Manhattan and The Muppets Christmas Carol.

More recently, The Muppets kind-of-but-not-quite reboot film in 2011, brought Jim Henson's classic creations back to mainstream popularity. A clever, funny musical that not only tipped its hat to the history of the Muppets, but also made them relevant again to modern audiences. With the film becoming a hit, a sequel was duly made, and number eight in the Muppets cinematic canon was released - Muppets Most Wanted.

There's some critics (probably Waldorf and Statler) who took an active disliking to Most Wanted, arguing it was a lackluster continuation in the Muppets rebirth, and a less-than-worthy sequel. They're wrong though, because Most Wanted is ludicrous amounts of Muppetry fun. It's got oodles of charm, it slays with some killer jokes, and it even has a hi-octane musical number set inside a Gulag. Seriously, what's not to love here?
