While it's not unusual for Marvel Cinematic Universe entries to remain shrouded in secrecy for as long as possible, we really do know next to nothing about The Eternals, aside from its cast of characters, and the absolute thinnest of plot outlines.

Being a comic-book movie, one of the biggest questions surrounding the project is who or what the villain will be. We know that the Deviants (basically evil Eternals) will be involved, but we don't know to what extent, and since a lot of MCU movies feature multiple bad guys, there's always room for more sinister faces to rear their heads.

And according to We Got This Covered, that's exactly what will happen in this film. The site stated that Maelstrom - a powerful Inhuman/Deviant hybrid - will be teased throughout The Eternals, and could even feature in a post-credits scene. Apparently, the plan is to set him up to be a bad guy in other films, after his introduction here.

It's important to note that We Got This Covered gets a lot of things wrong... but they also get things right here and there. This rumour could also go either way, but it wouldn't be a total shocker if The Eternals - which is set in the vast cosmic side of the MCU - teased other villains and entities.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
