8 Bizarre Peanuts Characters You Probably Won't See In The Peanuts Movie

4. The School Building

While the Peanuts comic strip often had animal characters like Snoopy and his siblings communicate via thought balloons, Schulz also depicted a few inanimate objects communicating the same way over the years. Perhaps the oddest of all such €œcharacters€ is the School Building. Yes, in Peanuts the School Building itself has a mind and personality of its own. Curiously, Sally is the only character in Peanuts that is able to understand the School Building€™s "dialogue." Ironically, of all the Peanuts gang Sally is the one who dislikes school the most. In fact, she began communicating with the School Building by taunting it during summer vacation. However, Sally eventually warms up to the School Building and has a love/hate relationship with it. The School Building is even prone to violence because it occasionally drops bricks on the heads of students who are obnoxious to it, like Lucy. Of course, a school building that communicates through thought bubbles that can only be understood by one character is a tough concept to pull off in a movie and is perhaps even too surreal for the Peanuts world in general. That€™s probably why Schulz didn€™t use this €œcharacter€ that often in the strip.
