8 Books That Need To Be Made Into Movies
3. The Dead Series - Charlie Higson
Like Department 19, this entry is focused on an entire series rather than just one novel, but in a world of The Walking Dead and its various spin-offs, it would be nice to see a slight twist on the zombie genre put to the big screen.
The Dead series was written by Charlie Higson, and takes place in London, where a zombie outbreak has infected everyone over the age fourteen and the young survivors must band together to fight the threat of the undead and the other groups around them. Featuring a wide range of colourful and constantly entertaining characters and conflicts, The Dead takes an abundance of daring risks and never once fails to shock and surprise.
If adapted to the screen, the series would makes a brilliant movie franchise, as the visuals, stories and characters of the book are all unforgettable. On top of that, the originality of having zombie outbreak survivors as kids could easily usher in a whole demographic who want to see children being brave, strong and consistently badass.
