Dennis Lehane, like Chuck Palahniuk, might be a name you're familiar with. He wrote the novels Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, Shutter Island and Live By Night, all of which have been made into successful films. With each of his books reading like a thriller, full of totally realistic characters and intense situations, this list could easily be dedicated to any of Lehane's other works.

However, we're looking at his most recent novel, Since We Fell. Released in 2017, Since We Fell is a psychological thriller which follows protagonist Rachel Childs as she develops agoraphobia following a mental breakdown, hunts for his estranged father, and uncovers a series of devastating truths about her husband.

A Hitchcock-inspired mystery, the rights to the novel were sold in 2015, as Lehane was writing it, but since then there has been no news of it ever actually hitting our screens. But thanks to Lehane's signature style and the novel's blend of action, crime, romance and whodunit, it's safe to say it's destined to become a film at some point in the future, and what a film it will be.
