8 Cancelled Movies We Secretly Still Want To See

The Unmade Movie: Once the Marvel Cinematic Universe became a smash hit, Sony were keen to mimic that success with the Marvel character they were still holding hostage: Spider-Man.

The range of considered movies was massive – there was genuine talk of an Aunt May solo picture – but the most intriguing (which not coincidentally was also the most along in development) was The Sinister Six, which would have seen a host of supervillains (who exactly was never announced, but probably Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, Rhino and The Chameleon) team up for some nefarious scheme, with Peter Parker a background “antagonist”.

After the announcement of the web-slinger jumping over to the MCU there was speculation this project was still in development, but the way things have progressed makes it sound done.

Why It’s Such A Shame: There was real potential in The Amazing Spider-Man franchise as a whole, but by the time the credits rolled on number two it was clear Sony weren’t interested in doing anything other than trotting out base iconography and setting up sequels. However, the idea of a Sinister Six movie, especially one that flipped the focus from the then-tapped out hero, was still intriguing and promised a refreshing alternative to the rest of what superhero movies were offering (although Suicide Squad may have beaten it to the punch).
