1. Star Wars Episode VII, VIII And IX Could Have Arrived Thirty Years Earlier
The Films You Know: Star Wars is massive. With the adored original trilogy, the maligned prequels, the up and coming sequels, the four animated series (Droids, Ewoks, both iterations of The Clone Wars), the twe live-action Ewok movies, games spanning four thousand years and enough novels and comics to fill a library, the galaxy far far away is an incredibly developed world more in depth than any other (take that Tolkien).
The Films That Almost Happened: Theres so many alternate Star Wars that nearly got made, from A New Hope with Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader on opposite sides of the war to a Return Of The Jedi with an Imperial lava palace. But today were focusing on what could have happened after the original trilogy. Original producer Gary Kurtz has revealed Lucas had detailed plans for five films following the original Star Wars, with Darth Vader (who wasn't Anakin) dying at the end of the first trilogy, leaving Luke to go explore the galaxy for his long lost sister (not Leia) as a Jedi hermit. The series still culminated with a final showdown with the Emperor, just that was in Episode IX. Kurtz left Star Wars when it became apparent Lucas was now more focused on merchandise and with him went the possibility of this enticing plot. Now we're finally getting these films, it's fair to expect J.J. Abrams won't be able to do anything similar to this plot; Star Wars is just too developed now.
