8 Completely Ridiculous Movie Concepts Currently In Development

The success of the Angry Birds movie has likely caused a lot of producers to start taking the mobile market a lot more seriously, and proof of this didn't take long to rear its head. But weirdly, this proof came in the form of Fruit Ninja - a game with precisely zero story threads - which, for some bizarre reason, is being turned into a live-action family adventure-film. Go figure.

The mobile app is one of the most popular of all-time, but there simply isn't anything here that can be stretched into a movie. There's no lore, no backstory, and there aren't even any true characters. A great movie needs a solid foundation, but when those foundations are non-existent? There's a problem.

The purported logline for the movie is as follows: "a team of misfits who are recruited to become Fruit Ninjas in order to save the world". In short, Fruit Ninja's movie isn't going to resemble Fruit Ninja at all, save for its title - which makes it a riduculous endeavour even by Hollywood standards.

Development Status: On the move. The movie was unveiled in May of this year with Tripp Vinson attached as producer, and in September, New Line Cinemas snapped up the film rights to the property. Expect this one to move quickly.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
