2. John Rambo Vs. the Burmese Army - Rambo

The Rambo film series escalates its craziness with each instalment. In the first the titular hero, John Rambo, decimates the police force of a small town. In the second, Rambo defeats what appears to be the entire Vietnamese army before aiding the Mujahideen to best the Soviet Union in Rambo III. Upon its release Rambo III made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the Most Violent Movie Ever Made with a whopping 108 onscreen deaths. It seemed that Stallone had set the bar for onscreen brutality prohibitively high -- that is until 2008s Rambo was released. Stallone decided to shoot for the moon and shatter Rambo III's mind-boggling body count. Many jaw-dropping moments in Rambo push the franchise from crazy to utter lunacy; for starters, the opening makes the ethically dubious decision to show real footage of war atrocities in Burma. This nuttiness is a prelude to one of the most unforgettable massacres in the medium of film. Stallone pushes the idea of a one man army to its extreme when a vastly outnumbered John Rambo commandeers a 50. calibre machinegun mounted on a jeep and cuts down dozens upon dozens of Burmese soldiers. Before the dust settles, Rambo shatters Rambo IIIs body count by more than double: for a staggering total of 236 kills. Rarely has any film reached this level of insanity or depravity.
