Who else? Darkseid is the villain that fans of DC and comic book movies in general have been crying out for since CGI became a prominent thing. Plus, since Thanos was confirmed as a villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character whom Thanos was based on has been demanded even more. Darkseid has everything - he looks extremely awesome and formidable, he is exceptionally powerful (possessing super-strength and durability, as well as more esoteric powers such as telepathy, telekinesis and the Omega Effect) and is a super-genius who leads an army of powerful followers on his native planet of Apokolips. He is the biggest physical threat that Superman faces on a regular basis and, as such, is pretty much the ultimate villain. An imposing and talented actor, with the help of some big budget CGI, could bring the character to life in a way that makes him incredibly popular with audiences. We've seen Darkseid in live action before - in the final season of television's Smallville - but with a movie budget he would be so much better.
