8 Deleted Scenes That Almost Completely Changed Their Movies
4. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Grave Encounters
In the case of removing a scene for kicking up a whole mess of sh*t when it was completely unnecessary, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 made the right call. The sequel movie sees a now confident Peter Parker face up against Electro, Jamie Foxx's electric bad boy wreaking havoc on the city, whilst furthering his relationship with Gwen Stacy. Most importantly however, the film opens with the death of his parents in a plane crash - so it'd be pretty weird to see Richard Parker make a surprise appearance in the middle of a graveyard... right?
Yeah, you are right, and that's exactly what happens in this scene that was later removed from the film. Seeing his dad appear in the graveyard, it's a confusing sequence that doesn't add anything to the film other than a giant head scratch. How did he survive? Where has he been? What's going on?
Whether it was foreshadowing what could have been planned for The Amazing Spider-Man 3 or just wanting to throw a spanner in the works before pieing the franchise off on Marvel, who knows. It's just definitely better off left well alone for the movie to explore grief in the way it does.
