8 Deleted Scenes That Almost Completely Changed Their Movies
3. The Devil Wears Prada - Miranda Has A Heart
Simply put - this is a film-ruining scene. Ultimately both foreshadowing and undermining the nuanced ending of The Devil Wears Prada, adding in this moment of softness from Meryl Streep's ice-queen fashion editor Miranda would have been a huge mistake, changing her journey throughout the film into something all too predictable before its time.
Am I exaggerating? Probably, but goddamnit, The Devil Wears Prada is the ultimate chick flick and to have its sanctity jeopardised is a serious matter. In the scene, we see Streep smile and thank misfit intern Andi for stepping in to avoid a scene caused by Streep's rowdy husband, part and parcel of her daily life as an assistant. It's a simple moment, but far too effective when we're supposed to be recoiling at the toxic environment Andi has committed herself to. It's definitely best that this moment was cut to give the finale the punch it deserves.
