8 Directors Who Really Should Have Retired After One Movie

7. John Singleton

url-11 You might not have heard of John Singleton, but he was the youngest person to have ever been nominated for a Best Director Academy Award, and the first African-American to have been nominated, too. That's pretty amazing, and definitely something that you could tell people at parties for the rest of your life in order to impress them and stuff. The movie in question, by the way, is Boys n the Hood, which absolutely deserved all that accolade it receive back in '91. It's a great movie, and one that's still relevant today. So, John Singleton took his moment of glory and started making even more powerful dramas and Oscar-worthy pictures, right? Ahem... well, you know where this is going. No, John Singleton, instead, decided to change his tastes completely, and has spent the past fifteen years making movies of the "terrible" variety. And I'm talking really terrible. Think 2 Fast 2 Furious, Four Brothers and that God-awful Shaft remake with Samuel L. Jackson. Apparently John Singleton is aging backwards or something.
