8 Disney Villains Who Weren't Actually That Evil
6. Ursula And Ariel Made A Contractually Binding Agreement
Early on in The Little Mermaid, it's established that Ursula once lived in the royal palace of King Triton, before being banished to live in a grotty cave, alone. Cruel.
Even worse, originally, the film was supposed to establish that Ursula and King Triton were brother and sister, making the nature of Ursula's banishment all the crueller. Aren't siblings supposed to forgive each other and work things out? Even disregarding this fact, however, Ursula is not all that evil.
For a start, she genuinely grants Ariel her wish to be human, and she's not sneaky about her demands, either: she literally draws up a contract, which Ariel signs. Isn't that just good business practice?
Sure, she might try and sabotage Ariel's end goal, but if Ariel had bothered to read the contract she'd probably have been able to work out better terms for herself.
