8 Dumb Movie Fan Theories That People Actually Believe

6. Jack Is A Delusion In Rose's Mind

20th Century Fox

The Theory: In Titanic, Rose feels trapped by her life as she's being forced to marry a possessive, heartless millionaire. In her most desperate moment Jack is dreamt up by her subconscious as a way of saving herself. Supposedly supporting this notion is that there are no records of Jack on the passenger list, and a lot of the events that happen with Jack aren't witnessed by other people.

Why It's Dumb: If this one is true, it totally ruins the point of the movie. If she€™s falling in love with an imaginary man that€™s not very romantic, and his self sacrifice is completely meaningless. There were no records of Jack because he won his ticket in a poker game five minutes before the ship set sail, as clearly seen in the movie. Numerous other characters are seen interacting with Jack, including scenes where Rose isn€™t even present. This includes her mother, her fiancée, his bodyguard, Jack's friend and so on.

In other words: Yes, he's real.
