8 Films Where Not Giving A F**k Improved Everything

6. Moonraker

I have a confession to make. I still think Moonraker is the best James Bond film ever. It's the only film in the series where the producers really let the character get completely ridiculous and for some reason it works. If you ever wanted to see James Bond in space, this is for you. Anyone who's seen The Spy Who Loved Me knows that it was supposed to be followed by For Your Eyes Only. However, Cubby Broccoli noticed that Star Wars had been a huge hit and wanted to capitalise on that by sending James Bond into space. I can't really explain why it made everything so much better, but if I was going to make an educated guess, I'd say it was something Bond hadn't done before. Inevitably the series was starting to repeat itself in terms of stunts and locations, so sending Bond into space was a really clever way of getting round this. Another sign of the producers really just letting things go crazy is the fact they bring back Jaws, and give Bond a gondola hovercraft. No, seriously. But the best thing about the film? Bond's reaction when he finds out Doctor Holly Goodhead is a woman. You can see the cogs turning.
