Release Date: 19th December The Talent: The Farrelly Brothers (Directors); Jim Carrey, Jeff Daniels, Rob Riggle, Laurie Holden, Kathleen Turner The Story: 20 years removed from their first (mis)adventure, Harry and Lloyd embark on a road-trip to find Harry's newly discovered daughter, who was given up for adoption. Why We Should Be Excited: Dumb And Dumber is a comedy classic, a gut-bustingly funny movie that many viewers in their late-20's/early 30's will have grown up loving. It's endlessly quotable and will have reached a whole new generation of people on Netflix. Therefore, nostalgia will get a lot of bums on seats for this one. But, crucially, will it be any good? History has shown that sequels that arrive many years after their predecessors tend to be, well, questionable (Blues Brothers 2000, Tron: Legacy). So, with Dumb and Dumber To shambling into cinemas a full 20 years after the original, there is definitely cause for concern. The movie's opening weekend in the US has already shown that clearly there is still an audience for Harry and Lloyd, as it exceeded box office expectations, but the reviews have been decidedly mixed. Some critics have likened it to watching your favourite old band on a reunion tour that reeks of desperation, yet others have marvelled at Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels' hilarious return to the characters.
