8 Franchises With Two Movies That Deserve To Become Trilogies

6. Escape From...

Escape from New YorkThe Movies So Far... Escape From New York (1981), Escape From L.A. (1996) Think about it for a moment. What better why for John Carpenter to tie a knot in his legacy whilst paying tribute to his die-hard fans than to go out on one more Escape From... movie? Granted, Escape From L.A. just managed to pass the belated sequel test, given how cheesy and terrible it was in places (on purpose?), but given the way that the second movie in this series ended (with Snake shutting down the entire world), we've actually got a story to explore. Whereas most sequels have to force an idea to hinge upon, separate from that of it its predecessor, a third movie in this franchise already has workable territory: mainly, what happens when the world is plunged back to the middle ages? And who better to explore that idea than our favourite badass, Snake Plissken? Kurt Russell looks great for his age, and John Carpenter needs something to do... are you thinking what I'm thinking? Escape From Earth, anyone?
