8 Franchises With Two Movies That Deserve To Become Trilogies

1. Hellboy

Hellboy 2 The Golden ArmyThe Movies So Far...Hellboy (2005), Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2010) Without a doubt, the singular comic book franchise at large today that genuinely deserves a third movie, it's Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy, which started fairly strongly with the original installment back in 2004, and got even better with the sequel four years later, subtitled The Golden Army. The great thing about the way that Del Toro has set up his franchise is in the combination of Pan's Labyrinth-like aesthetics and explosive blockbuster-sized action sequences. The last we saw of our characters, though, it didn't exactly feel like a proper ending - Del Toro chose to end The Golden Army on something of a joke, which gave us the impression that there was far more story to be told. It was hardly the definitive ending of a series, anyway. Besides, there's tons of story to explore here, some great characters - Ron Perlman was born to play Hellboy - and - best of all - these movies are just awesome, carefree fun. Let's make it happen!
