8 Great Horror Movies With Only One Character
5. The Night Eats The World
Zombie movies are incredibly freaky. The idea of a hopeless world full of walking corpses is enough to make anyone's skin crawl, but in almost every film in the zombie genre, the leads form a group to survive. This makes sense as sticking together is a good idea when there is danger around every corner, but The Night Eats The World goes in the opposite direction, and begs the question, could you survive a zombie apocalypse alone?
This French 2018 horror centres on Sam, a musician living in Paris who awakens to find a zombie infestation in the capital city, and soon discovers that he is the only survivor around. From then on, he attempts to live in this frightening and lonesome world, with no one to keep him company but the monsters who want to eat him.
Movies about zombies are a dime a dozen, as the concept became over-saturated a long time ago. However, this flick completely stands out as the crushing isolation of Sam's existence is just as terrifying as the physical threat. He even becomes so starved for connection that he tries to converse with the zombies, making the film equal parts creepy and heartbreaking.
Now, there is technically one more character involved, but even their presence is subverted to prove just how alone Sam really is.
It's worth watching and is available to stream with an Amazon Prime Video subscription.
