8 Great Movies Everyone Expected To Suck

6. Ghostbusters (2016)

It’ll be interesting to see how fans will reflect on the Ghostbusters reboot in a decade's time because it’s tricky for audiences in 2016 to separate it from all the controversy.

From the moment it was announced there was a palpable backlash; some from those who love the original and hate the idea of a new movie without the old crew, and those who just hated the idea of an all-female team. This initial reaction has clung to it ever since, and it didn’t help matters that the trailers absolutely sucked.

It looked horribly broad and witless, and the god-awful Fall Out Boy cover song looked like the final nail in the coffin. Let’s be thankful the end product was a fun, creative comedy; one that respected the past while doing its own thing. It even managed to snag some great reviews.

Not everybody will agree it worked, but in no way was it the all-consuming disaster it was hyped up to be.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
