8 Great Movies Everyone Expected To Suck
4. Titanic
James Cameron is a filmmaker known for a few things; making technical innovations (think of the CGI in T2 or Avatar), giving audiences visuals they've never seen before and being a raging a**hole to work with.
All of these things were evident during the making of Titanic, which was Jim’s most ambitious film to date. It was a gigantic production involved huge sets, water tanks and hundreds of extras. It quickly fell behind schedule, and the cast and crew were getting sick from working in the water.
Cameron’s legendary temper was in full force, and he was known to scream in people's faces if they messed up. One spiteful person on set even spiked the crew’s food with PCP, causing dozens of people to be taken to the hospital. The already hefty budget went up thanks to delays and sickness, and when the studio suggested making cuts Cameron just ignored them.
Was it worth the pain? Well, it went on to win eleven Oscars, it’s the second most successful film or all time, and it’s considered one of the most groundbreaking movies ever produced; so yeah, kinda.
